Severus is not really good at this, or so he'd say - or so anyone else ever would say, except probably his Slytherin students. He's not particularly tender or gentle but he can shake someone out of something without being too awful about it. Usually. ... Sometimes. When he feels like it.
"You didn't disregard my advice," he reminds her, voice still low. "You applied it less effectively than I'd have liked, but you made sure that I got that message even if you couldn't contact me yourself at the time. I was able to come get you."
He'd have gone looking, true, but Darcy's automated message got to him before that. So good thinking on her part, if for that at least.
"I must point out, however, that I do not impart instructions like that lightly. I wasn't trying to coddle you or make you sit out of something because I don't think you're competent."
