[ Severus remembers when they were fighting-- she'd snapped at him over Peter, then snapped at him for asking about it, and he's still not entirely sure why that argument happened the way it did, but he feels fairly confident it was greatly egged on by words coming out of his mouth. He was being an arsehole at the time, but he's no better navigating interpersonal social cues when he's not.
Instead of prodding at her to say more he just stays where he is and looks at her. He tries to keep his expression patient. If she doesn't want to talk about it, that's fine, but he doesn't know what else to say that won't be something stupid. She mentioned it, anyway. Maybe she just needs a distraction. Or. Something. He doesn't have a deck of cards.
